Adopt a Jack Russell Terrier / Beagle / Mixed (short coat)

This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-4pm on Sat. Feb. 17th & Sun. Feb. 18th or until adopted. If interested, please fill out an application if you would like the first opportunity to meet prior to the start of the event. (We will pre-approve one home to meet per dog.)

Love is 1 year old JRT mix who may have a little Beagle in him. He needs that soft, gentle, loving new owner that will just open his/her heart and welcome him in. He is going to be scared when he meets strangers initially. This is a dog who truly needs a rescuer's heart. He won't be perfect at first. But he will be perfect for the right home. He needs a home that is confident and can help him build his confidence. Ideally there would be another dog who he could trail after and find his confidence by watching.

He was a part of the Seven Virtues who we rescued from a terrible hoarding situation, one of the worst we’ve seen in our almost twenty years of rescue. The hoarders reached out to us and begged us to come take their dogs. When we arrived, we realized we didn’t have the capacity to take all 30-40 of them into our rescue and we called Animal Control to contact other rescues to come help with the rest.

But Love has been in a new foster home that has continued to work with him and just shower him with unconditional love. It's amazing to see how much that has transformed him. We now know that in a home he will blossom. He loves his time to cuddle on the couch with his foster mom. He sits under the desk when she works during the day. He loves the cuddly fluffy dog beds. He loves to get buried in them. He has recently discovered the sun and the grass. He will roll from one end of the grass to the other end. It's kind of funny...

Love will need a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years. If there are children they will need to be 12 years old and be very dog savvy. They will need to be the kind of kids who have grown up with dogs their whole life.
